New additions to the IP, Tech and Media team
HWL Ebsworth has seen a number of recent additions to its IP/IT/Media team nationally. Some of our new experts are profiled below.
Helen is based in Sydney, and advises in the protection, enforcement and commercialisation of intellectual property rights, including plant breeders’ rights, patents and designs.
In addition to being a lawyer, she is also a registered Australian & New Zealand Patent & Trade Mark Attorney and assists pharmaceutical, medical device, software and consumer goods companies with prosecuting trade mark, design and patent applications (including opposition, removal, re-examination, and revocation proceedings) before IP Australia & IPONZ. Helen also advises clients on registrability, patentability, infringement and validity.

Yuban is a partner in HWL Ebsworth’s national commercial team and has leading expertise in IT & communications, payments, procurement and outsourcing and privacy. Yuban has been practising for over 20 years and assists clients throughout Australia and internationally both in the private and public sectors. Before joining the firm Yuban was a partner in London at one of the UK’s largest law firms, CMS Cameron Mckenna, and for 7 years he was Special Counsel and Queensland Head of TMT and Sourcing at Herbert Smith Freehills. Yuban has been recognised for a number of years by the UK editions of Chambers and Legal 500 for Technology and Sourcing and is recommended by Doyle’s Guide for Best Lawyers.

Iain is a Special Counsel in HWL Ebsworth’s national commercial group, based in Melbourne. He specialises in information technology law, privacy, data protection, intellectual property, and general commercial contracting.
Iain has over 15 years of experience in private practice and in-house. In addition to working in private practice, Iain previously worked in-house at Australia Post in relation to technology, data, and financial services matters, at ANZ Bank and Hewlett Packard, and on secondment at Energy Australia. Iain holds Bachelor of Information Systems and Bachelor of Computing degrees, and previously lead the service delivery team at Plexus Legal, a law firm and legal robotic process automation company, in a combined legal and technology management role.
Iain also has extensive organisation transformation experience, including drafting the agreements for, and being heavily involved in the commercial and pricing negotiations in relation to, global business process outsourcing (BPO) projects.
