Matthew is a Special Counsel in HWLE’s Corporate & Commercial team, having practiced extensively in energy and infrastructure projects, joint developments and project financing. Matt’s experience includes working in top tier firms in Australia, Japan, HK and Singapore.
Matt specialises in the development and connection of renewable energy projects (solar, wind and battery storage), embedded networks and decarbonisation, including project related acquisitions and divestments. Matt is skilled at providing bespoke, highly creative commercial-oriented solutions to clients in infrastructure and energy transactions. He frequently advises developers, lenders, local councils and State governments in relation to renewable generation in the National Electricity Market, WA SWIS and NT, including power purchase and LGC sale agreements. Matt also advises on and documents carbon credit projects (ACCUs, VCUs) and carbon development funds.
Matt’s key clients include property developers establishing and structuring embedded networks and microgrids throughout Australia, for residential, community housing, commercial and industrial developments.
