Greg McCann

Greg is recognised as an expert in work, health and safety (WHS) with over 23 years of experience in private practice in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. He has worked for national corporations in a wide range of industries including mining, construction, transport, finance, retail, labour hire and oil and gas.

He regularly acts on WHS incidents and assists corporations and their officers in achieving safety compliance and delivering best practice solutions to safety management. He also delivers seminars and interactive discussions with directors and officers on their WHS due diligence obligations.

Greg conducts workplace investigations regarding reportable incidents and incidents involving psychosocial hazards arising from the business or undertaking.   • On an underground coal mining incident in NSW by managing the incident response and responding to a Regulator investigation;
  • On a tier one construction site in Sydney and managing the incident investigation and responses to Safework NSW;
  • A Safework NSW WHS prosecution in the successful defence against a commercial diving business where Safework withdrew the proceedings;
  • A client by obtaining a Work Health and Safety Undertaking in lieu of a court prosecution for an incident in an underground coal mine where two workers suffered serious injuries;
  • A national structural engineering company in Brisbane in a WHS prosecution to obtain a low range fine and non-conviction order;
  • A Local Government in NSW in relation to psychosocial risks in Council Meetings;
  • Two Directors of a national mining corporation in the successful defence against WHS proceedings arising from an incident in an underground minerals mine; and
  • Directors and Officers by presenting WHS Due Diligence interactive seminars to a number of construction, mining and transport corporations boards and executive teams.
