HWLE advises South Australia on Port Bonython Strategic Diesel Reserve

Firm News

HWLE’s Adelaide office has advised the State of South Australia in connection with its agreement with bulk fuel supplier IOR to establish the Port Bonython Strategic Diesel Reserve.

The arrangement provides for the immediate purchase and storage of 10 million litres of diesel at IOR’s existing Port Bonython storage facility in the Upper Spencer Gulf, with an option to increase holdings to up to 20 million litres.

The outcome demonstrates HWLE’s depth in delivering time‑critical Government-industry arrangements that integrate commercial, regulatory and policy considerations, supporting the State’s resilience planning and continuity of supply for essential services and key regional industries.

The matter was led by Nick Karagiannis (Partner), supported by Aleina Dearden (Solicitor), Chelsea Vigants (Solicitor) and Finley Hyde (Law Graduate).
