Matthew is known for being a deal facilitator, combining deep commercial acumen with a strategic, solutions-focused approach. He works closely with clients to identify legal and commercial risks early in the transaction, provides clear and practical advice on those risks, and develops tailored strategies to manage and mitigate them—ensuring outcomes that are both compliant and commercially effective.

  • Renewable Energy Advising project sponsors on property aspects of large-scale wind, solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.  This includes drafting and negotiating leases, easements, option agreements, neighbour agreements and connection agreements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Capital Transactions Acting for listed and unlisted REITS as well high net worth individuals on the sale and acquisition of major property portfolios, including bulky goods centres, retail shopping centres, industrial sites, mixed use residential developments and office buildings.
  • Leasing Advising landlords and tenants on national lease portfolios.  Matthew’s clients include listed and unlisted REITs, government clients together with national and international occupiers.  Matthew’s experience includes agreements for lease, subleases, assignments, variations, surrenders and renewals.  Matthew regularly supports his clients across retail, office and industrial asset classes.
  • Mixed use developments Providing strategic advice on mixed-use development projects including off-the-plan contracts, marina leasing, options, development and co-ownership agreements and development management arrangements.
