Tom Suttie

Tom provides general legal and commercial services to banks, financiers and originators.

In particular, Tom specialises in property and development finance, project and infrastructure finance, corporate finance, receivables finance, factoring & invoice finance, Sharia compliant trade financing facilities,  and loan restructuring.

Tom has expertise in acting for numerous bank and non-bank commercial lenders to establish their lending structures, preparing and negotiating the loan security documentation, and managing the associated transactions.


Tom’s recent experience includes advising:

  • Australian banks in the commercial and business banking sector, including property development and acquisition finance, business acquisition and finance, secured lending, and cashflow lending;
  • A non-bank mortgage funds company in a financing property acquisition and development;
  • Cash-flow financiers in relation to structuring, documentation and securities, including factoring, invoice discounting, debtor and receivables financing; and
  • An international financier on establishing an $80 million Sharia compliant trade financing facility to an Australian publicly listed company; and generally assisting Islamic financiers in establishing “Murabaha” trade financing facilities (cost-plus/invoice discounting.
