Stephanie Hedger is a Special Counsel in HWLE’s Construction and Infrastructure group, with over 10 years’ experience practising exclusively in construction and administrative law.

Stephanie has extensive experience acting for the Queensland building regulator advising on statutory decision-making and representing the regulator in merits and judicial review proceedings. Stephanie also advises developers, principals, contractors, subcontractors and consultants on both front end and back end construction matters across residential and commercial projects. This includes preparing and defending claims under the Queensland security of payment legislation.

Stephanie has been recognised in the 2027 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Australia™ for Construction and Infrastructure Law.

  • Queensland Building and Construction Commission Providing advice to the Queensland building regulator on statutory decision-making and representing the regulator in administrative and judicial review proceedings before the various Courts and Tribunals.
  • Head Contractor Acting for the head contractor of a major light rail infrastructure project in a $300 million dispute commenced in the Supreme Court of Queensland against various consultants.
  • Lead Smelter Owner Acting for the owner of a lead smelter in respect of numerous disputes arising from the redevelopment of the smelter.
  • Developer Advising a developer following a landslip at the developed site resulting in significant damage to numerous lots and public infrastructure.
  • Residential Developer Advising on the drafting and negotiation of a suite of consultancy agreements for a large residential developer.
