Shane Paterson

Shane is an experienced commercial litigator specialising in media and communications law, insolvency, Australian Consumer Law claims, equity and trusts, shareholder disputes, real property disputes, intellectual property disputes, and administrative law.

Shane is also a licenced pilot and has acted for aviation industry participants, including major airlines, in respect of administrative actions, regulatory compliance and accidents/investigations. Shane has also lectured and examined Aviation Law at the NSW Institute of TAFE in the Diploma of Applied Science (Aviation) programme.

Experience

Shane’s recent experience includes:

  • s19 ASIC: Advised and appeared for witnesses in s19 ASIC examination;
  • Aircraft owner: Acting for aircraft owner in International Commercial Arbitration proceedings involving a contractual dispute in respect of a sale of aircraft;
  • Creditor: Acting for a creditor in UK and USA in Federal Court proceedings involving a UK administrator seeking recognition in Australia of UK proceedings pursuant to Article 2 of Schedule 1 of the Cross-Border Insolvency Act;
  • Trade mark owner: Acting for owner of trade marks in respect of Federal Court infringement proceedings; and
  • ASX listed company: Acting for an ASX listed company in respect of a Scheme of Arrangement pursuant to Part 5.1 of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).
