Shane Paterson

Shane is an experienced commercial litigator specialising in media and communications law, insolvency, Australian Consumer Law claims, equity and trusts, shareholder disputes, real property disputes, intellectual property disputes, and administrative law.

Shane is also a licenced pilot and has acted for aviation industry participants, including major airlines, in respect of administrative actions, regulatory compliance and accidents/investigations. Shane has also lectured and examined Aviation Law at the NSW Institute of TAFE in the Diploma of Applied Science (Aviation) programme.


Shane’s recent experience includes advising:

  • Witnesses in a s19 ASIC examination;
  • An aircraft owner in International Commercial Arbitration proceedings involving a contractual dispute in respect of a sale of aircraft;
  • A creditor in UK and USA in Federal Court proceedings involving a UK administrator seeking recognition in Australia of UK proceedings pursuant to Article 2 of Schedule 1 of the Cross-Border Insolvency Act;
  • A trade mark owner in respect of Federal Court infringement proceedings; and
  • An ASX listed company in respect of a Scheme of Arrangement pursuant to Part 5.1 of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).
