Robert Gibson

Robert Gibson is a partner in the Corporate & Commercial Group specialising in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate and commercial law, and contracting.

Robert has over 25 years’ experience in advising on, coordinating and managing all aspects of acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures, corporate restructures, private equity and commercial transactions.  He also advises on contracting, outsourcing and supply arrangements, shareholder agreements, and corporate governance, and provides strategic advice to senior management and boards.

Robert has been named in Best Lawyers™ Australia for Corporate Law, Private Equity Law and Venture Capital Law, and has also been identified as a leading lawyer in Business and Commercial Law in Doyle’s Guide™.

Experience

Robert’s recent experience includes:

  • AMP on the sale of its wealth management business ipac Securities to PSK, and sell down of AMP’s interest in PSK to management;
  • Partnered Health on the acquisition of numerous primary care businesses and medical centres;
  • Moneypenny Accounting Services on its sale to Entertainment Partners LLC;
  • Rakuten Group Inc. on its acquisition of the Australian based Fillr software business;
  • Grand First Holdings on its 49% sell down of interests in the Aoyuan Property Group in Australia, and the refinancing of intercompany debt;
  • Eighth Gate Capital Management regarding its funds management business on the acquisition of numerous holiday and tourist parks, including the establishment of investor funds, and its subsequent sale to Ingenia Communities;
  • Heartland Motors, the Politis Group and McCarrolls on the sale and purchase of various motor dealerships;
  • Australis Music Group on its sale to a family office, and its acquisition of CMI Music & Audio;
  • No1 Lounges on the sale of its airport lounges in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Swissport;
  • PBE Group on its acquisition of the Rutherford mining services business;
  • Colonial First State and Water Utilities Group on the acquisition of the Rosehill Recycled Water Plant;

  • World Nomads Group on the sale of the World Nomads Group travel insurance business to ASX listed nib holdings;
  • Flick Anticimex on the acquisition of the Enviropest Group and Amalgamated Pest Control for Flick Anticimex and the global Anticimex group;
  • Golden Horse on its joint venture with Greenland Australia relating to the $1.4 billion Ashmore site in Erskineville; and
  • Xenith IP on its acquisition of Watermark patent and trademark attorney business.
