Raisa is a Special Counsel in the HWL Ebsworth National Insurance Group based in Canberra.

Raisa has extensive experience in civil litigation and insurance law. She acts for both private insurers and government agencies, in the areas of public liability, workers compensation, medical negligence, coronial inquests, medical disciplinary matters, and motor vehicle accidents.

Raisa has over 10 years of experience managing un-litigated and litigated claims and takes a commercial approach to her matters. Having acted for both plaintiffs and defendants and in both the private and government contexts, Raisa adopts a balanced perspective when assessing clients’ prospects of success, which results in fair outcomes. Raisa has developed strong advocacy skills from her appearances in ACT Magistrates and Supreme Courts, the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal, and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

  • Insurers Advising in respect of statutory entitlement claims and common law claims enlivening the jurisdiction of the ACT Industrial Court, ACT Magistrates Court, and ACT Supreme Court.
  • Medical practitioners disciplinary matters Advising in both the ACT and NSW, including the interplay between disciplinary action and civil law proceedings.
  • Government entities Advising in respect of claims in a variety of insurance areas and notably the defence of complex medical negligence claims and historical abuse claims.
