Peter specialises in energy infrastructure law, working with clients on the full project lifecycle from regulatory advice to project structuring, M&A, project contracting and bankability/financing. He has particular experience in the renewables, gas/LNG, water and transport sectors.

With over 20 years of private practice legal experience in both London and Australia, Peter has played a predominant role in many marquee energy and infrastructure projects.

  • Alinta Spinifex Offshore Wind Farm Acting in relation to its joint venture with Jera Nex/Parkwind.
  • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners Star of the South Offshore Wind Farm From 2017-2022 on all Australian legal aspects of this A$10+ billion project, including as General Counsel (on secondment) of the Project from 2019-2022.
  • Southern Downs Renewable Energy Zone Advising on all elements of their inaugural financing to Powerlink for the development of the Southern Downs Renewable Energy Zone. including arrangements with Queensland Treasury Corporation.
  • First Sentier Investors and CleanPeak Energy Acting in relation to their acquisition of Enwave Australia from Infrastructure Capital Group.
  • Bungama, Robertstown & Yoorndoo Ilga solar projects Advising on the project development and divestment arrangements for multiple solar farms across Australia.
  • APLNG Project and corporate financing counsel to the Australia Pacific LNG project Advising on the original USD$8.5 billion ECA project financing, as well as the subsequent US private placement and numerous commercial bank and bonding financings, including establishing a $580 million common terms deed structure for their bonding facilities.
  • NSW Treasury and Sydney Water Advising on desalination matters including the Sydney Desalination Plant privatisation, multiple bidders for the Victorian Desalination Plant, the Mundaring Water Treatment Plant & the operation and financing of the Macarthur Water Treatment Plant.
  • Colonial First State and Water Utilities Australia Advising on the acquisition of the Kooragang Island Water Treatment Plant from Hunter Water.
  • RMS Advising on the funding and financing arrangements of all three stages of the WestConnex project, including the $2 billion subordinated loan from the Commonwealth government. Also advised RMS on the sale of all three stages of WestConnex to the Transurban-led Sydney Transport Partners consortium.
  • NSW Government Providing advice on the complex funding arrangements for Australia’s first, fully-automated, rapid transit system for Sydney Metro Northwest.
