Paul Wilson

Paul is a Partner in HWL Ebsworth’s Property practice in Perth, with particular emphasis on the commercial property, master-planned communities and retirement living sectors. Paul has extensive commercial property experience with particular expertise in major acquisitions and disposals as well as commercial office and retail shop leasing. He also advises and assists in meeting the needs of residential developers on all aspects of property development projects including residential estate subdivision and project work and joint venture and development agreements. He has more than 25 years’ experience acting for major national private sector clients as well as government agencies.

Paul specialises in large-scale acquisitions and disposals of property, leasing, the development of master planned communities and retirement living and assists both private and public sector clients across all parts of the commercial property and retirement living sectors. Paul’s retirement living practice involves preparing residence contracts and undertaking retirement village sale and purchase transactions. Paul is also an active participant in the wider retirement living industry and regularly speaks at industry conferences.

Paul has been named in Best Lawyers™ Australia for Real Property Law. He has also been listed in Doyle’s Guide as a “preeminent” WA Property and Real Estate Lawyer and as a “leading” WA Health and Aged Care Lawyer.


Paul’s recent experience includes:

  • Peet Limited: Advising on all aspects of Peet’s Complete Land project. This project involved the putting in place of complex joint venture arrangements as well as agreements and licences with builders and take-out parties;
  • Far East Consortium: Advising on the development of the Towers at Elizabeth Quay. Once completed, the development will contain the Ritz-Carlton Hotel as well as 379 luxury apartments and complementary retail space;
  • Australia Post: Advising on the agreement for lease and lease by Australia Post to H&M of approximately 4,000 square metres of retail space in the iconic Perth GPO building;
  • TrustPower: Advising on property aspects of TrustPower’s Waddi Wind Farm project, to be situated at Dandaragan (north of Perth); and
  • Brookfield: Advising on the foundation tenant office leasing of the Brookfield Place Tower 2 development in the Perth CBD.
