Megan Priestley is a Special Counsel in HWL Ebsworth’s Health group, advising health practitioners and medical defence organisations on complex regulatory and disciplinary matters. Her many years of experience as a registered nurse gives her a unique understanding of clinical environments and the challenges faced by healthcare professionals, enhancing her ability to deliver practical, empathetic legal advice.
Megan’s expertise includes assisting doctors and other health practitioners with matters involving the Health Care Complaints Commission and the relevant Councils. She specialises in assisting and representing doctors in professional conduct matters, coronial investigations and inquests along with s150 Inquiries, Impaired Registrants Panels, Tribunals and PSCs.
Additionally, Megan provides advice and assistance to doctors being reviewed by Medicare and/or referred to the Director of Professional Services Review (PSR). She has assisted and appeared before many PSR Committee Hearings on behalf of the doctor.

- Health Disciplinary matters Assisting a significant number of doctors with disciplinary complaints, investigations, prosecutions and appeals before Inquiries, Professional Standards Committees and the NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal. Megan has previously worked for the Health Care Complaints Commission investigating complaints and prosecuting matters. She has also worked for the NSW Medical Board (now the Medical Council of NSW) assisting and advising disciplinary committees and inquiries. This experience brings a unique depth of understanding which benefits her clients involved in the complaint process.
- S150 Inquiry Advising a significant number of doctors before such inquiries and has been involved in the jurisdiction for over two decades.
- Medicare / Professional Services Review Acted for many doctors who have been reviewed by Medicare and the Director of Professional Services Review.
- Hospital Investigations Acting on behalf of and advising doctors in relation to hospital matters including involvement for internal and external investigations.
- Coronial Investigations and Inquests Represented many doctors and others before the Coroner especially when the matter is entangled with other disciplinary proceedings.
