Louise McAndrew

Louise is a Special Counsel in the Sydney team specialising in environment, planning and government law.

Louise has extensive experience in planning appeals, judicial review and environmental prosecutions in the Land and Environment Court. She advises both private sector and government clients, and has specialist expertise in major projects and regulatory compliance.

Louise has been recognised in Doyle’s Guide as a leading planning and environment lawyer.

Experience

Louise’s experience includes advising:

  • The NSW Minister for Planning/Department of Planning in numerous matters relating to the assessment, determination and post-approval compliance of major projects (eg Barangaroo, Sydney Football Stadium, Luna Park and various proposals for coal mines, quarries, windfarms, waste facilities and large scale residential subdivision);
  • The NSW Minister for Environment and Heritage/NSW Environment & Heritage in various matters (including litigation) concerning native vegetation clearing, coastal zone development, heritage items and harm to national parks and wildlife, as well as coronial investigations;
  • Various clients in judicial review challenges to environmental planning instruments (eg rezoning amendments); and
  • Local council and developer clients in merit appeals and civil enforcement proceedings.
