Karli Evans

Karli assists employers with complex labour and employment issues. She has particular expertise in enterprise bargaining, union disputes and industrial action, unfair dismissals, general protections claims and Federal Court litigation.

Karli advises predominantly corporate clients in industries including aviation, health, retail, education, manufacturing, professional services and building and construction.

Karli acts for Commonwealth agencies including the FWO, ABCC and ROC in relation to prosecutions of the Fair Work Act.

Karli was recognised by Doyle’s Guide 2020 as a Recommended employment lawyer and in 2016 as a Rising Star, and is listed in Chambers Asia Pacific, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers™ Australia.

  • A major construction client on its industrial arrangements and response action to a CFMEU ‘safety’ campaign involving unlawful industrial action and picketing;
  • A large professional services firm on restraint of trade litigation involving the downloading of thousands of confidential documents by an employee preparing to compete;
  • A transport industry company on cross-border enterprise bargaining negotiations including various applications to the Fair Work Commission;
  • A higher education institution on discrimination and harassment litigation involving sexual orientation and bullying;
  • A not-for-profit client on modern award compliance, including potential exposure to wide-scale underpayment claims and rectification; and
  • A leading manufacturer on potential litigation arising from an operational restructure and consequent redundancy program.
