Frances is a Special Counsel in HWL Ebsworth’s Health and Workplace Relations Teams.

Frances acts for clients on a wide range of matters, including professional negligence (including medical negligence) and personal injury claims, disciplinary and other statutory complaints and inquiries. She also has experience in industrial and employment matters, including unfair dismissals, general protections/adverse action claims, discrimination claims and safety prosecutions.

Frances acts for medical professionals, general practice centres, specialists and medical defence organisations in both litigated and non-litigated claims, as well as small and large-scale employers.

  • Multiple medical practitioners Assisting medica practitioners and private health service providers in the defence of claims for professional negligence, personal injury, complaints to, and prosecutions by regulatory and other disciplinary bodies, and in common-law claims.
  • Medical practitioners Advising in relation to employment and contractual disputes, including termination of employment claims, disputes and investigations under the State Service Act 2000 (Tas), credentialling matters and employment entitlements.
  • Various clients Advising in relation to Coronial investigations and inquests.
  • Various clients Advising in defence of class-action litigation.
  • Employers Providing award-coverage advice, enterprise bargaining, underpayment claims, unfair dismissal, adverse action and discrimination claims.
  • Insurers Assisting insurers, including medical defence organisations, in relation to personal injury and professional negligence claims, including advice on liability, quantum.
