Emily is a Special Counsel within the Corporate and Commercial team with a particular specialty in franchising law.
Emily possesses a wealth of experience assisting clients in navigating the complex Australian market. Her proficiency encompasses a broad range of franchising matters, including drafting and negotiating franchise agreements, ensuring compliance with the Franchising Code of Conduct, resolving franchising disputes, providing strategic guidance for franchise expansion and growth and advising in relation to the sale and acquisition of franchise networks. Emily acts for a number of franchisors spanning across food, retail, home caring services, fitness, beauty services, education, uniform supplies and trade services.
Recognised for her involvement in the Australian Franchising sector, Emily is also a committee member of the Franchise Council Australia’s NSW Women in Franchising Committee. Emily has also been peer recognised on several occasions in Best Lawyers™ Australia ‘Ones to watch’ for Commercial Law for 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Emily is also the Subject Coordinator and a Lecturer for the unit called ‘Law, Economics, Ethics and Change’ at Western Sydney University. In this subject, students explore the intricate relationship between law, economics, and ethics and focus on how this relationship evolves over time. With a passion for sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, Emily has developed a thought-provoking subject that delves into the intersection of these fields.
