David Fechter is a Special Counsel in the Sydney Corporate and Commercial group at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers.  David has over 15 years of legal experience specialising in private mergers and acquisitions, outsourced legal counsel services for small and medium businesses and a private client practice.

David regularly advises on sale processes, share purchase agreements, shareholder agreements and general corporate and commercial matters.  In addition, David provides a range of services to individuals and families, including estate, wealth and business succession planning and structuring, asset protection, trusts, superannuation, taxation and general legal advice. David’s clients include a range of small and medium sized companies, high net wealth individuals with significant experience in the health industry sector acting for individual doctors and their businesses.

David holds a Masters of law (University of New South Wales, 2018) specialising in corporate, commercial and taxation law.

  • Owners of a private hospital Advising on the sale of a private hospital by founding doctor shareholders to a large corporate private hospital operator, which a share sale as well as advising on the seller doctors’ acquisition of shares in the incoming corporate group.
  • Owners of a radiology clinic Advising on the sale of a radiology clinic for $20m to a large corporate private hospital operator, which a share sale as well as advising on the seller doctors’ acquisition of shares in the incoming corporate group.
  • Asset management funds Advising an asset management fund on a $100m+ investment in a growing self-storage business by way of share and unit purchase.
  • Health professionals Advising on establishment of medical clinics/private hospitals including business structuring and drafting and negotiation of Shareholder/Unit Holder Agreements.
  • Various estate planning matters Assisting with complex estate planning where the clients have substantial personal wealth and a web of companies and trusts with substantial assets controlled by the client. These often involve sensitive family issues where the client’s children do not always get along.
