Claire Walsh

Claire is a Special Counsel in our commercial litigation practice group.

Claire assists clients with the strategic resolution of a wide variety of commercial disputes, including contractual claims, Corporations Act litigation, and claims under the Australian Consumer Law.
Claire has acted for a broad range of clients, including large financial institutions, professional services firms, large corporations, as well as small businesses and individuals.

Claire has experience in all forms of dispute resolution, including litigation in state and federal courts and tribunals, arbitration, mediation, and expert determination. Claire also has extensive experience in advising clients in respect of regulatory compliance and investigations, including compulsory examinations and responding to requests for documents and information.

Experience

Claire’s experience includes advising:

  • A large developer in respect of a joint venture dispute in the Supreme Court, involving breach of contract, breach of directors’ duties, and estoppel arguments;
  • An investment and wealth management firm in multi-party Federal Court proceedings regarding alleged misleading and deceptive conduct;
  • A large bank in Supreme Court proceedings seeking specific performance and damages in respect of breaches of employment restraints;
  • A financial institution in respect of claims involving alleged fraud and breaches of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing legislation; and
  • Various organisations and individuals in respect of regulatory investigations conducted by ASIC, the ACCC, the ATO, and ASIO.
