Christopher Fanning

Chris acts for and advises banks and financial institutions (domestic and foreign) as well as non-bank lenders, on domestic and cross border financing transactions. Chris has undertaken secondment to two major banks and was also seconded as a foreign legal associate to Japan.

Chris has a diverse range of experience across several speciality areas and has a particular interest in lending transactions in the sectors of real estate (investments, construction and development), agribusiness, corporate acquisition, healthcare (aged care and retirement villages) and hospitality (hotels, pubs and clubs).

Chris has been recognised as a leading banking and financial services lawyer in the The Legal 500 Asia Pacific.

Experience

Christopher’s experience includes advising:

  • Two major Australian banks providing core debt and working capital facilities totalling more than AUD300 million on a club basis to a primary producer;
  • A major Australian bank on a multi-tranche acquisition and construction facility to a large storage facility provider which operates a large number of facilities in Australia;
  • A major Australian bank on the staged acquisition of a number of physiotherapy practices across Australia and New Zealand;
  • A major Australian bank on the financing of 6 retirement villages operated by a large Australian retirement living operator in Australia;
  • A major Australian bank on the financing of 7 aged care facilities across NSW;
  • A major international investment bank on the financing of an independent education provider; and
  • A major Australian bank on the financing of various facilities provided to a large number of independent schools owned and operated by a religious institute in Australia.
