Chris Egan

Chris has more than 20 years’ experience in advising corporate and government clients on all workplace issues with a focus on achieving practical outcomes.

Chris practises in all areas of employment and industural law from recruitment, terms and conditions of employment, terminations of employment, employment related disputes and litigation, occupational health and safety compliance and prosecutions, and industrial relations including union disputes and industrial action.

Chris has been named in Best Lawyers™ Australia for Employee Benefits Law.

Experience

Chris’ experience includes:

  • Acting for a leading Australian martime employer in relation to protracted industrial action in a significant and public dispute including proceedings in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Court;
  • Advising a Government agency on enterprise agreement re-negotiation strategy;
  • Acting for a Big 4 Bank on insourcing and transfers of large numbers of employees including dealing with entitlements and redundancy issues;
  • Acting for a stevedoring and transport company in relation a protracted dismissal, enterprise bargaining and workplace safety dispute;
  • Advising a Victorian State corporation on departure of executives and issues arising under Public Sector Remuneration Policy;
  • Acting for a large international technology company in relation to significant litigation against former executives and an auditor in respect of accounting irregularities;
  • Acting for a significant Australian transport and logistics provider on a wage compliance project; and
  • Acted for an international Agribusiness on restraint of trade litigation arising from a “group move” of 9 key employees between competitors.
