Caitlyn is a Special Counsel in the Brisbane Commercial and Corporate Team. 

Caitlyn provides commercial advice to a diverse range of clients throughout Australia in a variety of industries including retail, professional services, aviation, car leasing, manufacturing, construction and property.
Caitlyn’s areas of expertise includes: 

  1. advising on the application of the Australian Consumer Law (B2C and B2B) in particular the unfair contract terms regime, manufacturers and suppliers liability to consumers and, advertising / marketing compliance in Australia; and 
  2. drafting, reviewing and negotiating all types of commercial contracts including services agreements, manufacturing agreements, equipment supply and install agreements, talent agreements, product warranties, supply and distribution agreements, terms and conditions of purchase and sale and consultancy agreements.

Caitlyn completed a full time 6-month secondment at a global leader in steel manufacturing, Bluescope Steel Limited which, as a commercial lawyer was invaluable in understanding and appreciating the wider commercial issues and implications companies deal with on a day to day basis from a business perspective, not just a legal perspective.
Her clients value her down to earth and friendly nature, recognising effective communication as one of her key strengths.
Caitlyn is committed to supporting the firm’s pro bono efforts and regularly provides pro-bono advice to a variety of sectors.

  • large manufacturer Providing bespoke advice to a large manufacturer, importer and distributor of domestic products on the application of the new  Consumer Goods (Toppling Furniture) Information Standard 2024 to its  product range including guiding the Senior Management Team in relation to practical compliance throughout Australia.
  • Australian manufacturer Successfully negotiating a long-term distribution agreement on behalf of an Australian manufacturer (in the agricultural support industry) for the distribution and sale of its product throughout North America.
  • ASX listed company Advising an ASX listed company launch a new business model in the novated leasing market (direct to consumer) including advising on all aspects of the proposed campaign platform (TV, radio, digital display and social media).
  • international airline Updating over 25 internal policies and drafting complimentary procedures for an international airline.
  • ASX listed company Advising on and amending a large suite of contracts (in light of reforms to the Unfair Contract Terms regime) for a Top 200 ASX listed company.
