Amber Cerny

Amber specialises in private Mergers & Acquisitions, government and public sector transactions, Foreign Investment Review Board applications and privacy law compliance. She is interested in how technology and data are transforming commercial relationships and legal services.

Amber assists clients in the health, transport and technology industries.

Amber is the Chair of the Business Law Committee and Deputy Chair of the Privacy and Data Committee of the Law Society of NSW. She has been appointed to the Legal Services Council that oversees the administration of the Uniform Law in NSW, Victoria and Western Australia.

Experience

Amber’s experience includes advising:

  • inbound investors on compliance with Australia’s foreign direct investment regime and on the security of critical infrastructure assets;
  • a European headquartered renewable energy investor on a restructure of its Australian assets;
  • an Australian government agency on its privacy law, information security and data security compliance;
  • private and public sector clients on privacy and data legislative compliance and as a subject matter expert on internal audits. She has conducted PIAs, internal audits of privacy law compliance and assisted clients to embed privacy compliant processes in their organisations. She has also led legislative compliance internal audits;
  • various clients on corporate re-ogranisations; and
  • various clients on legislative compliance, corporate governance and commercial contracting.
