The first half of 2020 has been a great success for HWL Ebsworth’s M&A team, having ranked (equal) 3rd in Australia for advising on the highest number of mid-market (up to US$500 million) M&A deals, according to Refinitiv’s Global Mid-Market M&A Review H1 2020.
The firm continues to go from strength to strength with one of the most active M&A teams in Australia, and to date has advised public and private clients on M&A transactions valued at more than $3.2 billion.
HWL Ebsworth has also ranked 2nd in Western Australia for advising on the highest number of M&A transactions in the first half of the year, according to Business News.
The firm’s growth in mid-market M&A has been further recognised, having made the shortlist for Mid-Market M&A Legal Adviser of the Year (5-150 million USD) in the Mergermarket Australian M&A Awards 2020.
HWL Ebsworth’s National Corporate & Commercial Group Head, Jamie Restas commented:
“It is pleasing to see that the firm’s Corporate group is continuing to grow and develop into one of Australia’s leading M&A teams in the mid-market. Our ability to offer our clients a seamless national full service offering for M&A transactions at an ‘unrivalled value’ is hitting the mark. With the addition of the Bellanhouse team to our Perth office, I expect to see further growth in the Corporate group, which has now become the largest division nationally”.
HWL Ebsworth’s M&A team has worked on numerous deals spanning a wide range of industries including advising Centuria Capital on its NZ$130 million acquisition of Augusta Capital, the Rockliff family on the sale of their 50% interest in Petuna Aquaculture to Sealord Group, Bunnings on its acquisition of Adelaide Tools, ASG Group (a subsidiary of Tokyo listed Nomura Research Institute) on its acquisition of Group 10 Consulting and Russian company Nornickel, the world’s largest producer of palladium and high-grade nickel, on the sale of its Honeymoon Well Nickel Project to BHP Billiton Nickel West Pty Ltd.
