HWL Ebsworth completes national coverage with launch of Hobart office

02 August 2016

Leading independent Australian law firm HWL Ebsworth Lawyers has announced that it has launched a new office in Tasmania.

The majority of partners, solicitors and support staff of Hunt & Hunt’s Tasmanian office have joined HWL Ebsworth to form the firm’s new Hobart office.

Antony Logan and Sarah Sealy have become partners of HWL Ebsworth, and have been joined by four professional staff members and five support staff members.

The Hobart office is HWL Ebsworth’s tenth Australian office and completes the firm’s national footprint. HWL Ebsworth is the only fully integrated commercial law firm with offices in every State and Territory across Australia.

The office initially offers a broad range of legal services, including in the areas of Commercial and Corporate, Property, Workplace Relations & Safety, Banking & Finance, Construction, Dispute Resolution, Insurance and Restructuring, and Insolvency & Debt Recovery.

Antony Logan said “No other firm can match the breadth or value of HWL Ebsworth’s national offering, and we are proud to be the firm’s latest recruits. Tasmanian clients have traditionally sought to instruct local firms for the convenience and value for money that this approach offers. Over the years, Tasmanian organisations and government clients have also demonstrated a strong desire to support our local economy where possible. In many situations though, such clients have felt compelled to instruct mainland firms in particular specialist areas of law. We believe that we will be in the unique position of being able to offer outstanding advice in all areas of law of interest to our clients by tapping into the national expertise and resources of HWL Ebsworth, while being members of a firm that is eager to invest in the local market.”

“We are delighted that the national resources, expertise and gravitas of HWL Ebsworth will be available to our Tasmanian clients at market competitive rates,” added Antony.

Juan Martinez, HWL Ebsworth’s Managing Partner said “Several of our clients have expressed a desire to access consistently high quality legal services on a national basis, while reducing the operational and financial inefficiencies associated with large legal panels. Our unmatched ability to assist our clients with their legal needs in every Australian State and Territory enables our clients to achieve their objectives in this regard. We are looking forward to introducing our new Hobart team to our national and international clients.”

“As has been the case with our expansion into Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory in recent years, we will look to further enhance our offering in Tasmania with the recruitment of additional leading partners and solicitors in key areas of law of importance to our client base. We will continue to evaluate potential recruits in the coming months,” said Juan.
