Uncategorized

HWLE Lawyers and Brian Ambler acknowledge that comments made by Mr Ambler during a presentation delivered to one of its clients on 30 April 2025 had an adverse impact on an attendee of Pāsifika and Māori ethnic background and may have caused harm or offence to Pāsifika’ and Māori communities and other racialised minorities.

HWLE and Mr Ambler express their sincere regret for that impact.

HWLE is committed to fostering a workplace and professional culture grounded in respect, inclusion, and anti racism. The firm will continue to strengthen its internal training and practices to support cultural safety, ensure its staff are equipped to engage respectfully with all communities, and reinforce the firm’s expectations regarding culturally competent communication.

We appreciate the importance of learning from this incident and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that all interactions undertaken by the firm and its Partners reflect these values.
