Stewart Ebbott

Stewart is the State head of the firm’s Corporate and Commercial Group and is a leading corporate lawyer with expertise in mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings, corporate governance, general corporate and commercial matters.

Stewart has acted for both public and private companies on various transactions and focuses on M&A. He also draws on his time as a senior in-house legal counsel at Virgin Australia.

Stewart advises clients on local and cross border transactions and has significant experience in the Food and Agribusiness, Technology, Transport and Health sectors.

Stewart has been recognised by Doyle’s Guide as a Corporate Rising Star and was shortlisted for the Finance Monthly Deal Maker Awards 2020.

Experience

Stewart’s experience includes advising:

  • Poolwerx Corporation, the largest global franchise pool service brand, on the investment by Norwest Venture Partners;
  • Barambah Organics on the significant investment by asset management firm Tanarra Capital. Barambah Organics is a vertically-integrated producer of certified organic milk, yoghurt, cream and cheese products, which are distributed nationally and internationally to over 800 stores;
  • Macadamia Processing Co Ltd (MPC) on its acquisition of Pacific Gold Macadamias Pty Ltd and Macadamia Marketing International (MMI). The acquisition makes MPC the world’s largest macadamia processor and MMI the world’s largest macadamia marketing company;
  • Rural Funds Management Limited on its $250 million acquisition of J&F Australia Pty Ltd from the world’s largest meat processor, JBS;
  • Symingtons (Holdings) Limited (UK incorporated) on the sale of ‘Chicken Tonight’, ‘Raguletto’ and ‘Five Brothers’ brands to Simplot Australia Pty Ltd and STM, Inc (US incorporated);
  • G8 Education on its $185 million takeover bids for Affinity Education Group Ltd; and
  • Various health and community service and professional service clients including Pizzeys Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys Pty Ltd, 3wks and Khemistry, and Prescare on corporate and commercial matters.
