Sarah Thompson

Sarah specialises in government and administrative law, including judicial and merits review, acting on behalf of the Commonwealth government in a range of litigation matters.

Sarah has worked as an in-house and external legal advisor to the Department of Home Affairs. She regularly appears as a solicitor advocate in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, the Federal Court and the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

She has advised a range of clients in relation to Immigration, Disability, Child Support and Freedom of Information.

Sarah is an Accredited Immigration Law Specialist.

Experience

Sarah’s experience includes advising:

  • theĀ Minister for Immigration in relation to the extensive immigration caseload, including numerous judicial review proceedings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court, Federal Court and High and merits review proceedings in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal; and
  • the National Disability Insurance Agency in proceedings before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal for review of decisions concerning access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (the NDIS) and provision of supports under the NDIS.
