Our Adelaide Corporate & Commercial Practice Group is comprised of over 39 staff across a number of speciality areas. Our Adelaide office is recognised by Doyle’s Guide as ‘First Tier’ for both Intellectual Property and Technology, Media and Telecommunications law, and undertakes work for clients located all over Australia.

We offer our staff merit-based career development opportunities, flexible working arrangements, paid parental leave, salary sacrifice packaging, additional leave programs (purchased leave and additional reward leave), referral bonuses, access to retail discount programs with our clients and more.

The opportunity

We have an opportunity for a dynamic candidate to join our impressive and highly regarded Adelaide Corporate & Commercial practice, working with our market-leading IP/IT team led by Partners Luke Dale and Daniel Kiley and a team of highly motivated and skilled lawyers. As part of our team, you will be exposed to interesting and varied matters, with a particular focus on contracting in areas such as intellectual property licensing and technology commercialisation, and providing advice regarding regulatory issues, privacy requirements and cybersecurity.

Day to day, you’ll be engaging with emerging areas of law and will be busy with:

  • advising on the licensing and commercialisation of new technologies and brands;
  • reviewing and drafting commercial contracts, including providing advice with respect to unfair contract terms issues;
  • assisting the broader Corporate & Commercial team with the IP, technology and privacy elements of M&A transactions; and
  • providing advice under the Privacy Act, including drafting Privacy Policies and other documentation.

We anticipate that the successful candidate may not have existing experience in all of these areas but will have strong contracting experience and otherwise be eager to learn and participate with the assistance of our credentialed team.

Ideally, you will have:

  • 4 + years PAE;
  • strong drafting and written skills;
  • strategic and critical thinking capabilities;
  • communication, organisational and interpersonal skills; and
  • a passion for emerging legal issues and new areas of technology.
