Matthew Craven joined the firm in July as a partner within the Technology, Media and Communications team in Melbourne. Matthew specialises in large scale technology, IT and telecommunications projects, privacy and data protection. He also advises companies, research organisations and start-ups in relation to the development, protection and licensing of intellectual property, joint venture arrangements, distribution arrangements, franchising, advertising and trace practices, technology disputes and general commercial matters.

Christine McNess has recently commenced as a Senior Associate in our Brisbane office. Christine specialises in technology and intellectual property matters, in particular for public sector agencies.  Christine advises on all aspects of information and communications technology procurement, preparing tender documentation and negotiating and drafting Government Information Technology Contracting (GITC) framework contracts, standing offer panel arrangements and other technology related service agreements. She also advises clients in relation to their privacy obligations.

Rebecca Lindhout has commenced as a Senior Associate in our Sydney office. Rebecca specialises in commercial and corporate advisory matters in relation to media rights, technology, telecommunications, outsourcing and the commercialisation of intellectual property.  She also provides support in relation to the technology and intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions.  Rebecca joined HWL Ebsworth from Fox Sports Australia where she worked as in-house counsel.

Rebecca Sandford has commenced as an Associate in our Adelaide office. Rebecca has an Honours degree in Law and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and has completed a Masters of Laws in Applied Commercial Litigation.  Rebecca is working alongside partner, Peter Campbell, on commercial litigation matters with a particular emphasis on intellectual property, defamation and media and competition and consumer law.

Gina Tresidder, Special Counsel in our Melbourne office, has recently returned from parental leave and returns to her intellectual property and IT practice. Gina is highly experienced in trade mark prosecution and enforcement, both in Australia and internationally, and also acts for clients in respect of designs, copyright, confidential information, domain names, trade practices and intellectual property commercialisation. Gina also has extensive experience in structuring a range of software and technology agreements.

These recent additions see the HWL Ebsworth’s national Technology, Media and Communications team grow to 47 practitioners in total, delivering advice and services to clients across Australia.
