Shaun specialises in project-specific tenure and has advised on multiple mining, energy and renewable energy projects which requires in depth knowledge of specific legislative frameworks.

Shaun has recently assisted Blackstone in connection with the sale of a $3.8 billion industrial portfolio, the purchase of a $640 million industrial portfolio from Goodman Group and the proposed purchase of Crown Resorts.

Shaun has been recognised as a Rising Star in National Real Estate by Doyle’s Guide (2017-2019 and 2021).

Experience

Shaun’s experience includes advising:

  • Tattarang/Fiveight in connection with a proposed large-scale industrial development and associated joint venture (Roe Highway Industrial Park) and the acquisition of tourism and development sites and commercial property (including East Perth Power Station, Old Swan Brewery and Indiana Tea House);
  • Invesco on its investment in a half stake in Chevron’s $800 million Perth headquarters at Elizabeth Quay, WA;
  • Confidential Client in relation to a proposed expansion project at Bunbury Port, including provisions for construction of rail infrastructure and incorporating an underutilisation regime;
  • Saudi Agricultural Livestock Investment Company on the purchase of WA’s biggest single parcel of broad acre farming land;
  • Horizon Power on tenure and construction of a $570 million power station to supply electricity to customers in the Pilbara, and more generally statutory land access powers, easements relating to electricity, roads and pipelines; and
  • Water Corporation on all aspects of its significant property holdings throughout WA, including land acquisitions (by negotiation and compulsorily), disposals of land surplus to the Corporation’s requirements, leasing and licensing. Examples of work undertaken include the acquisition of land used to expand the Water Corporation’s Kwinana desalination plant and advising on land tenure and statutory access rights associated with major infrastructure projects such as the Burrup Seawater Scheme and Ocean Reef Marina.
