Nick Thompson
Nick has extensive experience in insurance litigation, specialising in public liability, property damage, workers compensation and dust diseases claims. Nick has acted for a wide range of clients, including private insurers, the Commonwealth, the ACT Government and worked as a senior in-house commercial lawyer for a Commonwealth Government department.
With over 15 years’ experience advising on and managing statutory and common law work injury claims, general insurance litigation, and dust diseases litigation in the ACT, Queensland and NSW. He has immensely deep knowledge of workplace accident claims, statutory entitlements and eligibility of workers to claim on the Default Insurance Fund.
Experience
Nick’s experience includes advising:
- Private insurers in respect of personal injury and property damage claims in the Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales courts;
- The ACT Insurance Authority in respect of work injury damages claims and dust diseases claims in the Australian Capital Territory courts and New South Wales Dust Diseases Tribunal;
- Clients in relation to large scale litigation matters, involving multiple defendants, coverage issues and complex contribution claims;
- Workers compensation insurers, general insurers and self-insured organisations in relation to claim management and litigation; and
- Undertaking a 12-month secondment to the liability claims department of a major Australian insurer.
