Katherine Barclay

Katherine commenced her career at a mid-tier firm in Hobart, Tasmania in the insurance department. Since beginning her practice, Katherine has assisted national insurers in the areas of personal injury (including historical abuse), compulsory third-party insurance, public liability and has a particular interest and expertise in the workers compensation jurisdiction.

Katherine now predominately works with our national workers compensation insurers assisting with a range of routine and complex claims, including common law liability and recovery.

In her practice, Katherine is outcomes focused, providing strategic advice aimed at resolving claims efficiently and effectively. Katherine also appears as Counsel in the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal – personal compensation stream.

Experience

Kat’s experience includes:

  • Providing strategic advice on litigated and non-litigated workers compensation claims including recoveries and common law liability.
  • Advising various Clients on public liability/personal injury;
  • Advising the Motor Accident Insurance Board on a range of common law claims;
  • Advising confidential Clients on historical abuse;
  • Advocacy in Courts and Tribunals; and
  • Developing and Presenting training programs regarding workers compensation.
