Emma Bell

Emma is a Special Counsel in HWL Ebsworth’s Banking & Financial Services Group.

Emma has 10 years’ experience acting for and working with multiple institutional Australian borrowers and major Australian and off-shore financial institutions (both traditional bank lenders and non-bank/alterative lenders). Emma had the opportunity to undertake a secondment from a top tier Sydney law firm to join Investec Australia’s in-house legal team, supporting multiple commercial business units including resource financing, aviation financing and corporate an acquisition finance, and remained with Investec Australia for a number of years as a senior legal counsel before returning to private practice.

Emma has experience on a wide range of Australian domestic and cross border financings providing advice on the full range of debt products, particularly in relation to real estate finance, construction and development finance, asset finance and corporate and acquisition finance (with sub-sector experience in agribusiness, hotels & hospitality, healthcare and office). Emma has extensive experience in the preparation and negotiation of bilateral facilities as well as complex club and syndicated financing arrangements on both a secured and unsecured basis

Experience

Emma’s experience includes advising:

  • Centuria on the financing of the acquisition by the Centuria Agricultural Fund of glasshouse assets located in South Australia to the value of $70 million;
  • Mulpha on its $160 million green syndicated construction financing of Norwest Quarter with ANZ and CEFC;
  • Fidinam on its debt facilities for its Australian commercial property portfolio;
  • Oscars Hotel Group on its club financing with ANZ, St.George and CBA; and
  • MaxCap on its financing of the Pro-invest Group’s acquisition of the Larmont Hotel Sydney.
