Christina David

Christina is an experienced insurance litigation lawyer. She specialises in health law, and medical indemnity. She predominanly acts for public health services and medical practitioners through their medical defence organisations.

Prior to specialising in medical indemnity, Christina worked at one of WorkSafe’s leading Panel firms, where she provided advice in the conduct and management of WorkCover litigation. She specialised in the defence of no fault statutory compensation claims.

Christina’s area of expertise includes medical and professional indemnity, personal injury and coronial investigations and inquests.

Experience

Christina’s experience includes:

  • advising on the merits and strategic management of a judicial review proceeding, where successful judgment was delivered in favour of the health service;
  • advising and acting for a large public hospital in a Coronial Inquest, involving the death of a mental health patient by cardiac arrest after an Assessment Order was made in accordance with the Mental Health Act 2014;
  • representing leading tertiary hospitals in respect of a high quantum, multi-defendant claims at mediation;
  • assisting a public hospital with responding to a high profile Coronial investigation, involving a triple filicide; and
  • advising and representing employers in the the defence of WorkCover litigation and running proceedings to judgment.
