Alexandra specialises in personal injury and workers’ compensation civil litigation, including Commonwealth workers’ statutory compensation claims under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 as well as Queensland based claims under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 and the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003. This includes conducting litigation in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Federal Court, as well as the District and Supreme Courts of Queensland.
Alexandra assists self-insured licensees, government bodies and insurers across a variety of industries, including providing early advice on management of new self-insured claims before they are litigated, and preparing advice and litigation strategies in respect of litigated matters. Alexandra frequently appears on behalf of clients at conferences, mediations, conciliations, directions hearings, and interlocutory applications in the AAT. Her experience also includes instructing counsel in Hearings before the AAT and in matters on appeal before the Federal Court.
In addition to practising in both the Commonwealth and Queensland jurisdictions, Alexandra also has legal experience in the United Kingdom, having worked for the Treasury Solicitor for six years specialising in personal injury, workers’ compensation, medical negligence and coronial inquests on behalf of the Ministry of Defence. During her time in the United Kingdom, Alexandra was also appointed as the Deputy Solicitor to the Brook House Inquiry.
