Alan acts on all aspects of small to large scale projects, ranging from procurement and contract preparation through to contract administration. He has broad experience in all types of building and development, and understands the key issues of design risk and intent and appropriate risk allocation for a successful project. Alan also advises on post-completion, claims strategy and disputes and has appeared in all Victorian Courts and Tribunals.
Alan acts for national major contractors, principals and owners, subcontractors, consultants and financiers including many market leaders in the residential and commercial building and development space and large volume home builders. He advises on: project and tender documentation; RFTs; suites of head contract, ECI, subcontract and consultancy agreements; letters of intent, construction contracts, deeds of novation and tripartite deeds; drafting and negotiating contracts, supply, minor works and services agreements; contract interpretation; adjudication applications/responses; tribunal and court applications and arbitration.

- Major pipeline subcontractor Acting on a private arbitration in relation to a $22 million contractual dispute in Queensland.
- Financiers Advising both private financiers and major banks (eg Westpac, Bank of Melbourne and Commonwealth Bank) on construction contract review and advice.
- Goldfields Advising on The Raleigh, Windsor project (Design and construction of a ~$270 million project for 300+ build-to-rent apartments over two interconnected twelve storey towers. Included an ECI process, preparation and negotiation of a demolition and D&C contract.
- Local Council Preparing tender documentation (including a tender version project agreement) in relation to the construction of a large processing facility.
- Glenvill Advising in relation to YarraBend, Alphington which includes the design and construction of residences, townhouses, apartments and houses across separate precincts including preparation and negotiation of consultancy agreements, ECI agreements and D&C contracts (Parkview; Outer Circle; Artisan; Wetlap).
