HWL Ebsworth acts for Centuria on $124.5 million acquisition of Augusta Capital

09 July 2020

HWL Ebsworth has acted for the Centuria Capital Group (ASX: CNI) (Centuria) in relation to the cash and scrip takeover of New Zealand listed fund manager, Augusta Capital Limited (NZE:AUG) (Augusta) for AU$124.5 million (NZD$132.7 million). The acquisition follows Centuria’s participation in Augusta’s institutional and retail placement as sub-underwriter earlier in the year, at which time Centuria’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Centuria New Zealand Holdings Limited secured a 23.3% stake in Augusta.

The completion of the Augusta acquisition will result in Centuria’s assets under management increasing by 24% to AU$8.9 billion and place it in a position to be included in the S&P ASX 200 index.

The HWL Ebsworth corporate and commercial team consisted of Partner James Lonie, Senior Associate Alex Beagley and Graduate-at-Law Will Crammond.
