The opportunity

Our Brisbane Planning, Environment & Government team continues to grow, and has an opportunity for a junior to Associate level solicitor. The team specialises in advising and acting for public and private sector clients in relation to planning and development matters in Queensland, and issues affecting developers and industry, local government, and environmental protection matters.

In this role you will work closely with the Partner, Peter Bittner, and a team of highly motivated and specialist lawyers, who have a strong team culture, and foster mentoring at all levels. You will gain significant experience in all aspects of town planning and environmental law in Queensland. With a diverse range of clients including large residential, industrial and retail developers, resource companies, infrastructure providers, local governments, and entities in the gas and electricity fields. You will advise on large and complex developments, working closely with our clients and their consultants to assist in delivering outstanding outcomes, including where necessary, challenges in the Planning & Environment court, Land Court, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and the High Court of Australia.

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have

  • interest in one or more of Planning, Environment and Government areas of law;
  • a desire to build a career in a well-respected and established practice where your future is based upon your merit;
  • strategic and critical thinking capabilities;
  • ability to build relationships with clients and other members of the team; and
  • ability to work autonomously on matters.

Past experience in this practice area is not necessary.
