Simon Chan

Simon is a banking and finance lawyer with extensive experience in Australian and international corporate finance transactions.

Simon acts for both major financiers and corporate borrowers and his practice spans bilateral, club and syndicated financings.

Simon also has experience in property and construction finance, debt restructuring, cross-border financing and investment grade financing and he has worked in-house on secondment to Westpac Institutional Bank in Perth and The Royal Bank of Scotland in London.

Simon is known for his user-friendly approach and is focussed on delivering a commercial, proactive and cost-effective service to his clients.


Simon’s recent experience includes:

  • A syndicate of two major Australian banks: Advising on corporate facilities totalling AUD120 million provided to an ASX listed financial services company;
  • A club of two major Australian banks: Advising on corporate facilities totalling AUD139 million provided to a diversified manufacturer of chemicals and major tank terminal operator;
  • An ASX listed Western Australia-based property development group: Advising on its corporate syndicated debt facility and separate project debt facilities;
  • A major Australian bank: Advising on the debt restructuring of an ASX listed property investment and funds management group with facilities in excess of AUD300 million; and
  • A bank coordinating committee (chaired by HSBC Bank): Advising on the restructuring of a syndicated USD2.2 billion term loan acquisition facility to a ship and rig building, conversion and repair business based in Dubai, Singapore and Indonesia.
