Simon Chan

Simon is a banking and finance lawyer with extensive experience in Australian and international corporate finance transactions.

Simon acts for both major financiers and corporate borrowers and his practice spans bilateral, club and syndicated financings.

Simon also has experience in projects and infrastructure financing, property and construction finance, debt restructuring and cross-border financing.

Simon previously spent four years with Allen & Overy LLP in London and has worked in-house on secondment to Westpac Institutional Bank in Perth and The Royal Bank of Scotland in London.

Experience

Simon’s recent experience includes:

  • A syndicate of two major Australian banks: Advised in relation to corporate facilities totalling AUD120 million provided to an ASX listed financial services company;
  • A club of two major Australian banks: Advised in relation to corporate facilities totalling AUD139 million provided to a diversified manufacturer of chemicals and major tank terminal operator;
  • A TSX listed iron ore development, gold and lithium exploration company: Advised in relation to its private placement secured convertible note facility;
  • A syndicate of two major Australian banks: Advised in relation to facilities provided to the operator of Western Australia’s largest general aviation airport;
  • An ASX listed Western Australia-based property development group: Acted in relation to its corporate syndicated debt facility and separate project debt facilities; and
  • A bank coordinating committee (chaired by HSBC Bank): Advised on the restructuring of a syndicated USD2.2 billion term loan acquisition facility to a ship and rig building, conversion and repair business based in Dubai, Singapore and Indonesia.
