Samara Harley

Samara’s area of practice are workers compensation and allied work health and safety and employment issues.

Having developed extensive knowledge and experience in workers compensation, Samara has become a technical expert in South Australia. She prides herself on being able to deliver strong analytical advice to clients while taking a pragmatic but firm approach to litigation. Samara ensures that she considers broader issues that may affect the potential or ongoing liability (including industrial issues involving the employment relationship).

Samara predominantly acts for the State of South Australia, large self-insured employers and registered employers.

Experience

Samara’s experience includes advising:

  • Various clients in regards to providing advice and representation in respect of complex workers compensation claims and disputes before the Tribunal and the Supreme Court of South Australia (including claims made pursuant to the 1971 Act, 1986 Act and 2014 Act). Strategic advice includes advice on compensability, quantum, return to work, claims management and dispute resolution;
  • Various clients in regards to providing advice and representation in respect of death dependency claims;
  • Various clients in regards to providing advice and representation in respect of dust disease actions, including common law actions and dependency claims. This includes successfully resolving a number of dust disease and dependency claims in a quick and cost-effective manner; and
  • Various defendant clients in regards to delivering training and other value add assistance, including training on legislative change and application of same and in respect of the obligations to provide suitable employment.
