Sabine Phillips AM

Sabine assists clients providing aged care services, disability services, retirement living and health care. Sabine is a registered nurse (non practising) and has been an approved provider of aged care services.

Sabine specialises in risk management, corporate and clinical governance, inquiries and investigations, policy development and review, regulatory compliance, dispute resolution and challenging administrative decisions.

Sabine has been recognised in the Australia Day Honours with an AM for her services to the legal profession and to aged welfare. She has also been recognised by her peers as a Best Lawyer in the 2016 to 2022 Awards in the area of Retirement Villages and Senior Living Law, and was awarded “Lawyer of the Year” for Retirement Villages and Senior Living Law in Melbourne in 2022. ┬áSabine is also listed in the Doyle’s Guide as a pre-eminent lawyer in aged care. Sabine is a director of Uniting AgeWell, Wintringham, Wintringham Housing and Village Glen.

Sabine holds a Masters degree in law, a Masters’ degree in Business (Organisational Behaviour) and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Advanced Nursing. Sabine is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Experience

Sabine’s experience includes advising:

  • Industry groups on the introduction of the voluntary Assisted Dying Legislation, assisting with the development of COVID 19 policies;
  • Various clients with the development of their clinical governance framework and general governance issues in light of the single quality framework;
  • Various clients on responding to findings of non compliance and assisting with continuous improvement, policy development to facilitate ongoing compliance;
  • Various clients in preparation of responses to regulatory bodies and preparation for coronial inquiries; and
  • Confidential client including an investigation into the organisational culture of a service and a review of its compliance with its obligations.
