Michael Boyce

Michael specialises in corporate mining, petroleum and natural resources law and has significant experience providing advice in relation to acquisitions and divestments, project development, joint venture structuring and related issues, offtake agreements (including gas sale and transportation agreements) and construction and procurement contracts.

Advising both mining and oil & gas companies, Michael’s clients include publicly listed and private companies who operate throughout the full project cycle from exploration and development to production and operations.

Michael was named as a Recommended Energy & Resources Lawyer – Western Australia by Doyle’s Guide 2019, 2018 and 2017. He was also recognised as one of two Natural Resources ‘Next Generation’ lawyers in the 2016 edition of the Asia Pacific Legal 500.

Experience

Michael’s experience includes advising:

  • New Century Resources Ltd on its project energy requirements (gas sale agreements and power purchase agreements), offtake contracts and EPC and mining services contracts;
  • Doray Minerals Ltd on its $615 million merger with Silver Lake Resources by Scheme of Arrangement that resulted in Silver Lake Resources becoming a multi-asset mid-tier gold producer;
  • Lithium Royalty Corporation on its acquisition of lithium royalties payable on production from Core Lithium Ltd’s mine in the Northern Territory and Galaxy Resources Ltd’s Mt Cattlin mine in Western Australia;
  • Primary Gold Ltd on the development of its Coolgardie projects and its takeover by Hong Kong Stock Exchange listed Hanking Holdings; and
  • Entek Energy Ltd (now XCD Energy Ltd) on its acquisition of a suite of Alaskan petroleum acreage from Elixir Petroleum Ltd.
