Mary MacLeod has over 26 years’ experience in complex common law litigation, statutory compensation and public sector legal advisory work.

She has advised and represented a broad range of clients including WorkSafe Victoria, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC); self-insured clients such as Woolworths, Wesfarmers, the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV); and self-insured licensees including the National Australia Bank and Commonwealth Bank.

Her extensive experience has seen her defend and manage complex/strategically significant claims with a proven track record of achieving successful outcomes through strategic claims and litigation management, meticulous preparation and sound legal judgment.

  • Transport Accident Commission – Dispute Resolution Applications & VCAT Advising TAC in relation to dispute resolution applications and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal matters concerning liability determinations, medical and like expenses, loss of earnings and impairment benefits.
  • WorkSafe Victoria – Common law and Statutory Benefits Acting in statutory benefit disputes, complex and strategically significant common law matters in pre litigated common law serious injury applications and litigated common law disputes. Experience in the Magistrates Court, County Court, Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal.
  • Self insurers & Licensees Advising self-insured and licensee clients in all aspects of claims management, risk management and maintaining compliance. Providing regular presentations and workshops on key topics. Experience in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Magistrates Court and County Court.
  • Pro Bono Advising vulnerable individuals in non-indictable matters, probate law, family law and migration law, ensuring access to legal representation. Providing mentoring to young offenders.
