Karyn is an experienced construction industry professional, having specialised exclusively in construction law since 1995.

Karyn provides ‘whole of project’ support and advice. Karyn resolves disputes, and is particularly experienced in claim assessment. Karyn regularly advises on project delivery options, contract risks, contract management and contract administration.

Karyn has a detailed understanding of alternative dispute resolution practices, with recognised expertise in adjudication, mediation, arbitration and expert appraisal, having resolved numerous complex construction and engineering disputes.

Experience

Karyn’s experience includes advising:

  • Carmichael Rail Network: acting on behalf of rail designer in Supreme Court proceedings;
  • Gold Coast Light Rail Project: providing ongoing support to D&C Contractor, having provided contract administration and dispute resolution support and advice through the later stages of this project and having facilitated resolution of multiple disputes arising from a wide range of issues using several different dispute resolution strategies including negotiation, expert determination, adjudication, arbitration and court proceedings;
  • Legacy Way Tunnel: contract administration and dispute resolution support and advice, facilitating early resolution of disputes arising from the design of tunnel safety systems, using adjudication, arbitration and facilitated negotiations;
  • Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET): successfully resolved disputes between design engineer and D&C contractor;
  • QCLNG: resolved design related claim through expert determination process; and
  • Gladstone Liquid Natural Gas Upstream Project: acted for several consultants, suppliers and subcontractors in relation to various aspects of the project, facilitating resolution of several disputes arising from the design and construction of different elements of the system.
