Justin Hewett

Justin is a special counsel in the Perth banking and finance team at HWL Ebsworth.

He has advised on domestic and cross-border leveraged, acquisition, project, infrastructure, property and corporate financings involving Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Previously he spent 6 years with a magic circle firm based in London.

Justin enjoys working with Chinese clients on both domestic and international transactions. He is fluent in Chinese Mandarin (spoken and written) which he uses to negotiate and draft legal documents.



  • Advised HSBC Bank on a US$770 million syndicated facility provided to Talison Lithium, a privately-owned company that owns one of the world’s largest lithium mines, namely the Greenbushes Mine located 250km south of Perth, Western Australia;
  • Advised DZ Bank, NORD/LB and Westpac Banking Corporation on a A$250 million syndicated facility provided to a subsidiary of Genex Power for the construction and development of the Jemalong and Kidston solar wind farm projects;
  • Advised China Development Bank on the US$7 billion project and acquisition financing provided to MMG Limited in connection with its acquisition of the Las Bambas copper project in Peru from Glencore plc;
  • Advised Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets and a consortium of Danish pension funds on the €6.3 billion financing for their acquisition of TDC A/S, a Danish telecommunications network operator; and
  • Advised Australia and New Zealand Banking Group on a A$330 million core debt facilities for Automotive Holdings Group (an entity listed on the Australian Securities Exchange), a provider of automotive retail and logistics services in Australia and New Zealand.
