Christine Blight

Christine is a Special Counsel in our Sydney Corporate and Commercial group.

Christine specialises in providing advice to financial services and wealth management companies. She has worked in house in a broad spectrum of  financial services companies including Commonwealth Bank of Australia, TAL, ING and Lazard Asset Management, and for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.

She is well known for her commercial acumen and practical approach and has extensive experience negotiating contracts with and for financial services providers, AFSL licensing and the development of new financial products.

Christine was included in the inaugural 2023 edition of the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Australia™ for her work in Corporate Law.


Christine’s experience includes advising:

  • A retail bank on the establishment of a new retail superannuation fund, including establishment of the trust, negotiation of all relevant contracts; investment strategies, AFS Licensing applications, development of member disclosure documentation and liaison with ASIC in relation to marketing strategies;
  • Financial product issuers on the development of white labelling arrangements with major corporations;
  • A large multinational corporate group on the closure of defined benefit schemes; and
  • A ‘big 4’ Australian bank on the provision of intra-fund advice, including staff training materials, call centre scripts and statements of advice.
