Chris Hood

Chris is a Partner in the litigation practice. He specialises in complex commercial disputes and has acted on behalf of listed entities, public and private companies, partnerships and individuals in various jurisdictions across Australia. He regularly represents clients involved in inquiries and regulatory proceedings.

He has also appeared on behalf of clients at private mediations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Chris has extensive experience advising clients in areas including agriculture, contract law, consumer law, building and construction, infrastructure, property and wagering and gaming.


Chris’ recent experience includes:

  • Agriculture: Acted for large aquaculture facility in Supreme Court of Qld proceedings in a claim for breach of contract and negligence following catastrophic loss of stock due to an outbreak of rare disease;
  • Consumer: Advised a large ASX company in respect of a product recall; representing that client in Supreme Court of Victoria proceedings against the manufacturer for breaches of contract and of the Australian Consumer Law;
  • Construction: Acted in numerous disputes involving tier 1 and 2 contractors in respect of complex claims for breaches of contract, variations, extensions of time, prolongation and disruption;
  • Property: Represented large private companies in respect of a complex claim for adverse possession;
  • Regulatory: Acted for large home builder in defence of proceedings brought by ACCC for engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct under the Australian Consumer Law; and
  • Wagering and gaming: Acted for multiple ASX listed wagering and gaming organisations in inquiries and prosecutions brought under the Racing Administration Act (NSW), Lotteries and Art Unions Act (NSW) and the Gambling Regulation Act (Vic).
