Cassie specialises in commercial litigation in the Magistrate, District, Supreme and Federal Courts acting for a variety of clients including financial institutions, professional advisors, private companies and individuals.

Cassie has acted in disputes involving consumer and corporate financial recovery, personal property, building and construction, breaches of contract, insolvency, intellectual property, leasing and licensing, misleading and deceptive conduct, recovery and priority issues, deceased estates and guardianship matters. The quantum of claims has varied from over $10 million to less than $10 thousand.

Cassie has also developed a strong reputation for financial services recovery which skills transfer to all clients – offering a strategic and pragmatic approach to understanding and advising on specific client needs including reputational risk, compliance, specialised outcomes and managing client costs.

Experience

Cassie’s experience includes advising:

  • A liquidator appointed to a Large Property Development Group who is taking action to preserve and recover numerous assets via traditional insolvency means and specific commercial litigation actions as well as attending to public examinations of directors and other officers and advising on compliance;
  • A Court appointed trustee of 2 Large Family Trusts which has required many Court applications and proceedings including beneficiary claims for the repayment of loan accounts, seeking injunctive relief to restrain interference with the trustee performing his duties, directions under the Trustees Act, property tracing and ownership and preparing numerous advices on trustee powers and obligations;
  • A Large Mining Company to prosecute a Supreme Court claim against a former employee for operating a business in competition with their then employer;
  • Various Lenders (large and boutique) to enforce security documents which often involve real property or chattel mortgages, share mortgages, guarantees, general and specific security agreements; and
  • Numerous Clients on high volume debt recovery and the enforcement of judgment debts in the Magistrates Court, District Court and Supreme Court.
