Alex Gelber
Alex is a Partner in the Planning, Environment and Government team at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers.
Alex advises on a range of issues including metropolitan and greenfield development, subdivision, compulsory acquisition, land valuation (including rating and land tax matters), easements, land use rights, restrictive covenants, infrastructure contributions (including the Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution) and planning and environment approvals.
Alex regularly appears at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Magistrates Court, Supreme Court and Planning Panels Victoria.
Experience
Alex’s experience includes advising:
- Dennis Family Corporation on the development of substantial growth areas in Armstrong Creek and the Melbourne northern growth corridor;
- Various landowners with the successful removal and modification of restrictive covenants to facilitate development outcomes, including child care centres and multiple dwelling developments;
- Developers in relation to infrastructure contribution issues and associated planning scheme amendments;
- A significant landowner in an identified activity centre in a successful legal challenge to a planning scheme amendment process; and
- The Victorian Planning and Environmental Law Association events as an expert panellist.
